5 year olds

Kaydence was pretty sick yesterday with a high fever. She slept on my right arm all night long so let's just say that my visit to the chiropractor yesterday was pointless. Today she feels better and she wanted to watch Ice Age. I said sure. Then she wanted pizza for lunch and I said sure. Kylie exclaimed that Kaydence ALWAYS gets to watch her movies and eat pizza for lunch and it was NOT FAIR and nothing is fun!! Kaydence said, "Mom said I could eat pizza!" and Kylie loudly proclaimed that we ALWAYS eat pizza(which is not that far from the truth!) and again that it wasn't fair.

I can see that age 5, which is quickly approaching, is going to be a charming age. It's a land where nothing is fair, nothing is fun, everything is boring, and your sister gets everything and you're just left behind in the dust.

Not much has been happening here in the last few weeks. We ended our Bible Study and Awana's for the summer and Gymnastics is also done. It's been a nice break! We're cutting back on Emeric's therapy a bit for the summer to just give everyone a break!

I got my garden planted and my flower beds done last week. The day after I planted it was very windy and I think some of my petunias might not survive. The girls are excited about the garden but hate weeding. What kid hates weeding? :)

Kaydence is sick today. I had a chiropractor appt. in town and came home and she was lying on the couch. Jake was complaining about how crabby she was and that she wouldn't eat. I said she probably didn't feel good and I went and felt her forehead and she was hot.

Emeric still has his cold too and I'm getting tired of chasing him around with kleenex!

People can be really dense...

There's this lady at Bible Study who doesn't know me but apparently has "heard" of us. She came up to me today and she said, "Oh, aren't you the one that um one of your kids has something wrong with him?" I gave her a look as if to say, "What? What are you talking about?" and then she said, "Yeah, doesn't one of your kids have seizures?" @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ That's me rolling my eyes out of my head.

Do people really think a good way to approach someone that you don't even know for the sole purpose of satisfying your own nosy curiousity is to ask what's wrong with your kid?

So I said, "Nothing is WRONG with him. Yes, he has seizures."

Then she goes blabbing on and on about how she has a niece with seizures and how it isn't the end of the world!

Um, did I ever say it was the end of the world????????? NO!!

Apparently she didn't think her first few comments were dumb enough so she then says that he'll probably grow out of it. As if she now knows everything about Emeric and that all people with Epilepsy outgrow it. I'm not sure why people tell me this anyway. I guess they think it helps. It doesn't.

I say, "uh huh" and she asks if he has seizures daily and if takes any medications for it. @@@@ Again, rolling my eyes. I tell her yes and she just can't believe he still has seizures while on the medication and then gives me this look as if to say she's sooooo sorry.

I DO NOT EVEN KNOW THIS WOMAN!

I can't even begin to tell you how annoyed I was with her and how rude I thought she was and how angry all her stupid comments made me.

So, my point?

That you don't want up to someone that you don't even know and ask them what's wrong with their kid and then proceed to tell them that he'll grow out of it despite not knowing anything about him.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. Thanks for listening! :)

The girls have a Beach Party today. We got to a Bible Study at a church in town every week and there's a class for the girls called Little Lambs. They really love it and today they get to wear swimming suits which they think is even more fun!

They also got a cat last night. Our other cat ran away so we got a new one. It's orange like our last one and it is so friendly it acts like a dog! It puts it's paws up on you and waits for you to pet it!

I'm leaving tomorrow with Kerry to go garage saling in the cities. We're meeting up with a bunch of people with Grand Rapids. It should be fun, I'm excited to get away. Although I've never left Emeric that long so I'm a bit nervous about that but I'm sure he'll be fine!

Happy May Day!

I've really been more at peace this last week with Emeric's situation than I've ever been. Everyday I pray for that peace and a new strength to get through the day without continual worry. It's hard for me not knowing what God's plan is for Emeric's life and what he has in store for him but really I don't know what's in store for Kylie or Kaydence's life or for my life or anyone's life for that matter. None of us are promised a long, happy life and I've realized that continually worrying about Emeric has done me no good. Yes, being concerned has done me good and I'll always be concerned for his health but I feel like those are valid concerns and I don't think that's wrong, I think it's natural.

We've been studying the book of Daniel at a Bible Study I've been in and how God has already answered our prayers before we've even answered them. I keep thinking God is not giving us answers but we've gotten a lot of answers in the last year. We've learned a lot about what's going on with Emeric and obviously for right now God thinks we know enough. We know what we need to know to take the best care of him and knowing anything else doesn't matter at this point. Now, I can't always say that I'm ok with not knowing but I don't have to be ok for the next week, or the next month or the next year, I have to be ok for today. And for today I am.

For today I know that God planned Emeric's life before he was born and that this is the life God chose for him. This is what he chose for us. Sure I wish Emeric didn't have seizures and that he was healthy but then I also think, but this IS him. If you change all of that and you take it away you change him. And so I have lots of conflicting emotions but right now I feel at peace. When I start trying to think ahead is when I feel very scared but worrying about what's ahead doesn't do me any good because even if I know what's ahead ultimately I CANNOT change it. Either way God is in control. So, I can try to sway God's mind and tell him what I want but really is that best? I mean, do I know what's best for Emeric? Better than God? Obviously the answer is no. So, when I think of it that way I realize that I want God to be in control and I want to put Emeric in his hands and not mine.

Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you."
